The 1892-S Morgan Dollar is a lower mintage coin of the series that drives substantial premiums in mint state grades. While it does not receive the attention of the primary key dates, only a very small number of uncirculated examples exist due to the fact that most were released into circulation without notice in the late 18th and early 19th century.
Examples are readily available in grades below XF and remain inexpensive. In grades XF and AU, the coins become more expensive, with premiums jumping even higher from the MS60 grade level and higher.
At the 2006 FUN Signature auction in Orlando, Florida, an example graded PCGS MS66 sold for $230,000. Only a handful of coins have graded higher.
