The 1895-O Morgan Dollar had a somewhat lower mintage with 450,000 coins produced at the New Orleans Mint. Importantly, much of this mintage was circulated and no hoards of coins emerged in later years. Thus, the 1895-O is available, albeit at a premium, in circulated grades and scarce in uncirculated grades.
Examples of the coin graded MS65 have sold for more than $125,000. The finest 1895-O Morgan Dollar is a lone coin graded PCGS MS67 that sold for $575,000 at an auction held in November 2005.
