Once considered to be a major rarity, the 1904-O Morgan Dollar can now be found readily in gem condition and higher. The original mintage of 3,720,000 pieces had been scarcely encountered for decades after the original issue. This changed in the 1960′s when more than one million coins were released by the Philadelphia Mint.
This year represented the final year that the New Orleans Mint would produce the Morgan Silver Dollar. One final year of the design was issued in 1921, but these coins were produced at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints.
